Background of the Study

Ride-hailing services, such as Bolt and Uber, have transformed urban mobility, offering convenient and affordable transportation options. In the context of tourism, these services enhance accessibility to attractions and improve the overall travel experience for visitors. Kano State, with its vibrant markets, historical sites, and cultural festivals, stands to benefit from the integration of ride-hailing services into its transportation ecosystem.

Globally, ride-hailing services have been credited with improving tourism accessibility, especially in urban areas (Smith et al., 2023). However, in Kano State, the adoption of these services faces challenges such as limited coverage, regulatory constraints, and variable service quality (Eze & Musa, 2024).

Exploring the impact of ride-hailing services on tourism accessibility in Kano State is vital for understanding their role in shaping the state’s tourism landscape.

Statement of the Problem

Despite the growing presence of ride-hailing services in Kano, their impact on tourism accessibility remains underexplored. Issues such as limited availability in rural areas, inconsistent service quality, and regulatory barriers hinder their effectiveness in facilitating tourist mobility. These challenges limit the potential of ride-hailing services to enhance tourism accessibility and growth in Kano State (Ali & Obinna, 2023).

This study examines the impact of ride-hailing services on tourism accessibility in Kano State, providing recommendations for maximizing their benefits to the tourism sector.

  1. Ride-hailing services do not significantly impact tourism accessibility in Kano State.

  2. Challenges do not significantly hinder the adoption of ride-hailing services for tourism.

  3. Strategies for leveraging ride-hailing services do not significantly improve tourism accessibility.
